It’s a bit of a cliché at this point – video games are constantly evolving. But is it a cliché if it’s true? The games industry is always looking for the next big thing, and that means developers are always working on something new, something different, and something unique.

We’re deeply embedded with the game development industry, and we always want to learn what’s going on, what the next big thing is, and how the people making games – developers, designers, audio engineers, writers, and every other creative – feel about the industry itself. So, we’ve partnered with our friends at Perforce – which makes the industry-standard version control application for games and media – to learn more about the state of game development from the people doing the developing!

Incredibuild and Perforce are happy to announce our 2023 State of Game Development & Design survey, starting this week. The survey looks to hear from you – the makers of games – about the future of the industry, where it stands today, the tools and platforms you’re using, and the development challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

In Perforce’s 2022 survey, they found that games are increasingly being developed on cloud, while a good percentage of teams are working on at least hybrid – on-prem and cloud – models. This year, we’re hoping to learn more and find insights that will help us keep making better solutions for game developers using Incredibuild and Perforce – everything from new features to quality-of-life improvements that will help publishers big and small make better games faster.

Even better, this year we’re going to use our survey to help the planet! In 2023, we’ll be raising money for the non-profit organization One Tree Planted, which works toward global reforestation and creating bio-diverse and sustainable habitats for wildlife. For every valid response to our survey, we’ll be donating $1 to help restore damaged ecosystems and repopulate forests!

So, what are you waiting for? Tell us everything you know about the game development industry! You can fill out the survey here.
