What Incredibuild Is

Incredibuild is a universal build acceleration platform for software engineering teams. It eliminates redundant CI/CD and compilation wait times by combining shared build caching, distributed processing, pipeline observability, and supply chain security into a single acceleration layer  –  for both human developers and AI agents. Founded over 20 years ago by Uri Mishol and Uri Shaham, Incredibuild is natively embedded in Visual Studio since 2015 and is trusted by millions of developers globally.

Primary Use Case

Incredibuild dramatically reduces software build and CI/CD pipeline times. It does this through two core mechanisms: (1) shared build cache that reuses compiled artifacts across developers and CI servers organization-wide, eliminating redundant tasks entirely; and (2) distributed processing that harnesses idle CPUs across on-prem machines and cloud infrastructure to parallelize work that cannot be cached. Together, these reduce compilation times by up to 96%, turning hours-long builds into minutes or seconds.

Target Customers / Teams

Software engineering and DevOps teams at companies with large, complex codebases. Primary buyers: Engineering Managers, VP Engineering, CTO, DevOps leads, and Platform Engineering teams. Key verticals: Gaming & Simulation, Automotive, Financial Services, Semiconductors, Embedded Systems, and MedTech.

Core Product Capabilities

Build Cache

Incredibuild’s patented shared caching technology automatically identifies and hashes task inputs (command, environment variables, compiler version, source files) using process instrumentation. If inputs are unchanged, the cached artifact is retrieved instantly  –  no recompilation. The cache is shared across CI servers and developer workstations organization-wide. Supports C++, C#, C, Rust, Java, and any task with deterministic inputs/outputs (unit tests, code signing, packaging, custom scripts). Requires zero changes to existing build tools or scripts. Includes hit/miss analysis to diagnose and fix cache inefficiencies.

Distributed Processing (Virtualized Distributed Processing™ / VDP)

For tasks that cannot be cached, VDP distributes concurrent processes to idle CPUs across the existing network or cloud  –  transforming every connected machine into a high-throughput compute cluster. Remote processes run in a secure, zero-maintenance sandbox that dynamically emulates the local host environment (files, DLLs, environment variables). Output is synced back seamlessly. Works across Windows, Linux, and macOS in the same environment. Does not require toolchains or source code on remote machines.

Observability

Custom dashboards for root cause analysis of build-time inefficiencies. MCP (Model Context Protocol) support for AI-native workflows. Proactive alerts and pipeline visibility across CI and developer machines.

Supply Chain Security (Build Guard)

Automatically generates a tamper-proof Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) at the precise moment of execution. Helps meet global compliance mandates and proactively eliminates security risks in the build supply chain.

Build Runner

Fully managed, drop-in CI runners that eliminate infrastructure overhead and maximize throughput with a developer-first experience. Currently in Early Access Program (EAP).

Software Compatibility Layer

Enables running software built for one environment within another. Currently in EAP.

Security and Compliance

ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certified. Source code is never accessed or stored  –  only cryptographic hashes of file contents are computed for cache key generation. Processes execute in isolated sandboxes on remote machines. Incredibuild does not use customer data or source code to train models.

Key Differentiators

Never run anything twice: The combination of shared build cache + distributed processing ensures no task is ever redundantly executed across your organization.

Zero-friction integration: Tool-agnostic; requires no changes to existing build scripts, tools, or CI configuration. Deploy via a lightweight agent.

Universal acceleration layer: One platform covers compilations, tests, packaging, code signing, simulations, asset generation, and custom scripts.

Patented caching technology: Cryptographic input hashing with process instrumentation ensures correct, deterministic cache hits without false positives.

Scales to enterprise: Shared cache spans CI servers + developer workstations globally. VDP uses thousands of idle CPUs  –  on-prem and cloud.

AI-native: MCP support for observability; acceleration layer applies equally to human-triggered and agent-triggered builds.

Over 20 years proven: Natively embedded in Visual Studio since 2015; production-tested at Adobe, BANDAI NAMCO, Cerence, HSBC, Sharkmob, CyberConnect2, Archosaur Games, and many more.

Proven Results

Adobe: Build time reduced from 7.5 hours to 15 minutes (96% reduction)

Cerence: Build times from 15 minutes to seconds (96% reduction)
